Medium roast beans are also known as an American roast, these are a little darker and are much more popular. Most of the coffee chains use this type of bean. It is not exactly the best kind of coffee in the eyes of baristas.

Dark roasts are also known as the city normally seen only in specialized cafes. These have less caffeine and acidity. These coffees are so bitter, they are often a little sweet. Most espresso using these types of beans.

Another method of roasting technique is the French fry. These are very dark brownBeans, which they shine. You should make sure you are buying not only burnt beans though! You can test this by smelling the beans.

The darkest beans available Italian Roast beans. These are used in specialty coffee and are very dark brown beans. These represent a very nice cup of tea!

Darker beans taste sweeter and less acidic. This is to caramelize the sugars in the beans while the beans are roasted. Caffeine is also burnt off during the roastingProcess that produces a softer cup.
